The Life Blood of a Democracy Is an Informed Electorate

Many fear for the life of American Democracy. A large number of our people have strong faith in a supernatural god. Faith means believing without evidence, without facts. Such a belief is fine for religion, which historically has been a private matter. However, when people of faith elect politicians because they too are people of faith, and demand no evidence, no facts, no accountability from them to support their policies/beliefs, our democracy is imperiled because zealots become empowered.

Democracy relies on an informed electorate so when people do not hold their politicians accountable, do not inform themselves of the truth, we are on a short road to theocracy and an American ayatollahism, from which democracy will never again blossom.
