Congressman John Doolittle's Trail of Slime
Graduates of UC Santa Cruz are Banana Slugs. Banana Slugs leave slime trails wherever they go. Congressman John T. Doolittle is a Banana Slug.
.
He received the largest fine ever levied at the time (1985) by the California Fair Political Practices Commission for successfully rigging his own election against fellow Republican Ray Johnson.
Under the headline “Raking in the Cash,” Time magazine (January 16, 2006, p.38) lists John Doolittle as the seventh ranked “congressional recipient of contributions from Jack Abramoff, his wife, the Indian tribes that hired him and SunCruz Casinos, from 1999 to 2005”. Congressman Doolittle said he hoped the Bush administration would beat back efforts at campaign finance reform and gun control while dramatically cutting federal regulation. He said, “The power of the presidency, coupled with a Republican Congress and conservative control of the Supreme Court, is nothing short of awesome.” The late State Senator Leroy Greene said prophetically Doolittle is “a pious looking young man with a prayer book in one hand and a stiletto in the other”. He is mostly known for the stiletto.
Power corrupts. New revelations about Doolittle’s ties to Abramoff appear daily. He so tightly controls our area that he gives permission to only one Republican, his Republican, to run for any office that is uncontested. Mike Holmes is the lone maverick to resist Doolittle, and it will be interesting to watch Doolittle’s stiletto in action against him if he is slimy enough to escape indictment.
While gathering in lieu of signatures, I had the privilege of talking to many local Republicans, who universally denounced the immorality of Bush and Doolittle, because these two do not represent them or Republican values.
There is no power on earth like an idea whose time has come. A very good idea is to vote Doolittle out of office. No one has to give us money to vote him out of office; we just follow our consciences
.
Voters can end his slime trail.
