More Bush Lies

President's speech was full of fabrications. Bush's State of the Lie speech did not disappoint. His fear-mongering started immediately with immigration terrorists and 9/11. He lied that he had thwarted four attacks on the U.S. "We stopped the al-Qaida plot to fly planes into the tallest building on the West Coast." The attack never got beyond the planning stage and fell apart of its own inanition. Bush is the only person to count this debacle as a possible attack.Secondly, he "broke up a Southeast Asian terror cell grooming operatives for an attack inside the U.S." He fabricated this; it has no historical basis. His third lie is "we uncovered an al-Qaida cell developing anthrax to be used against Americans." This lie is laughable, purely fabrication again. And, fourthly, "we uncovered a plot to blow up passenger flights over the Atlantic." This was a British bungle that Bush forced them to undertake. All suspects were released. He uses his lies to conclude "we must take the fight to enemy" because he does not know how much longer he can protect us. Bush's credo is "the only thing we have to fear are those things I fabricate and tell you to fear."
What a leader! Like Hitler Bush seems to believe if he tells a lie often enought people will believe it. So far he has been correct.

Hitler's Lesson to Bush

Hitler himself wrote: “The victor will not be asked, later on, whether he told the truth or not. In starting and waging a war, it is not right that matters, but victory. Have no pity.”
Hitler had nothing on the George W. Bush administration.
What, if any, silver lining can be found in the wake of this new goose-step in the abyss? Perhaps only that the same bellicose, predictable and clumsy villains remain right where they have been for the last seven years: right in front of us.
Bush should have listened more closely to Hitler. He said victory would cover all lies, but Bush will never achieve victory so he will pay the price for his lies ... they will come to light and he will pay.
It is now the American people and the world who will "have no pity" on Bush.

Really Support the Troops!

Many people sport this sticker on their cars without really giving it much thought. A sticker is little more than a palliative to assuage the guilt of risking other people’s lives for a questionable imperialistic war. Whatever people think of this war, everyone is unanimous in wishing the men and women of the American armed forces well. Soldiers are trained to follow orders and perform well under any conditions, and our military has and is performing superbly. Our young deserve and need our respect and support but, most of all, they need to be brought home.

Supporting the administration of this war and those who administer it is another matter completely. The Bush administration’s ethically challenged rationale for this war and its lack of support and direction is nothing less than a catastrophic failure and is criminally immoral in its execution. The armed force the Bush administration sent to Iraq was inadequate from the start. The lack of a plan for the war after the initial invasion was unconscionable because it led to the unnecessary deaths of many of the 3,100 Americans and over 700,000 Iraqis and Afghans so far killed in this ill-conceived, ill-administered misadventure. Those responsible could be reasonably charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity. Tens of thousands of our wounded and battle fatigued will never again be able to live normal lives. The lives are marked forever by a senseless exercise of political arrogance.

The mercenary forces and the no-bid military support businesses hired by this administration such as Black Water were interested in little more than self-aggrandizement and maximizing profits. Never before has a war been so privatized and privatized to the disadvantage of our troops. Mercenaries seriously compromised the morale of our military personnel by earning ten to twenty times their pay.

Halliburton, Bechtel, Kellogg, Brown and Root were adept at bilking a complicit Bush administration with Dick Cheney, a US VP still on Halliburton’s payroll with a $34 million dollar supposed buyout. The unethical and corrupt bungling of the Bush administration further put our military in harm’s way, and yet our military performed admirably and continues to perform admirably in an impossible situation. The Iraqi government and people have lost all hope of a stable government. Two million of the best educated and wealthiest Iraqis have fled their homeland because they believe no solution is forthcoming from the Bush administration or from their newly elected sovereign government because the people rightly view it as an American puppet. The Iraqi government will gain legitimacy only after the Americans go home.

Iraq is a quagmire with no hope of winning or withdrawing on the horizon for our armed forces so they must soldier on in chaos.

The picture in Iraq has gone from gray to ebony black. The Bushites have no plan and the Iraqi government is hamstrung by the American occupiers. So what can the American voter do to support the troops?

What the voter can do is to support our troops by supporting and voting for a change in the administration of the war. How can the voter do that with two years remaining of Bush’s presidency?

The answer is quite obvious to all. Since all politics are local and administered locally, the voter must turn out of office all office holders who support the Bush administration in any way. The voter can refuse to vote for any new candidate who sympathizes with this administration. For the voter in our area, the direction is clear: Dump all Republican and take to the streets and bang those pots and pans as Molly Ivins suggested in her very last column. Demonstrate every way possible against this war. So doing worked to get us out of Viet Nam … it will get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Refuse to pay your taxes and like Henry David Thoreau go to jail to protest an unjust war.

These actions will help the voter clear his conscience and do something concrete to really support the troops. What would you do if your son or daughter, grandson or daughter were in Iraq or Afghanistan? Behave accordingly. They are your son/daughters, grandsons/granddaughters.

One Step Closer to Bush's Fascist State and Now One Step Back Toward Our Republic

One Step Closer to a Fascist State and Now One Step Back Toward Our Republic

The US moved one step closer to a total fascist state with Bush signing the Military Commissions Act of 2006 that eliminates habeas corpus. Without any demonstration of public outrage, Americans allowed Bush to kill habeas corpus, the heart of the Bill of Rights. In one signing Bush eliminated the right to a fair and speedy trial, the right won on the battlefield at Runnymede in 12l5 from King John and from that date, the right that which has been the heart of all democratic nations.

Losing habeas corpus means that Bush can arrest any and all CITIZENS OF THE US whom he dislikes and decides are enemy combatants. This action by Bush is beyond belief. Twelve Democratic congressmen also voted to give the president this power, the death of the Bill of Rights and of democracy.

Now, more than ever, voters must replace all members of congress including John T. Doolittle, who voted for this act and immediately begin impeachment against Bush in order to save the US from the insanity of Bush and the neocons.

Of all attacks on our republic by Bush, this is the most serious and the one that must be most fiercely attacked and repealed.

Doolittle Shamelessly Plays the Race and Gay Card

John Doolittle is now playing the race card with his H.R. 480 to deny undocumented workers (Mexicans Nationals) the right to secure mortgages to buy homes and the Gay Bashing card with his H.R. 1246. HR 480 is all for effect because undocumented nationals cannot buy homes on the meager pay they receive from California employers, who break the law to employee them but are never prosecuted.

USA Carol Lam, who secured the conviction on Congressman Duke Cunningham, and was then going after Congressman John Taylor Doolittle for his involvement in the influence peddling of Jack Abramoff, was fired by Bush in a now-notorious political firing, politicizing further the Department of Justice. With no attorney to continue the probe of Doolittle, he has been granted a respite from prosecution so he is trying to hide him own culpability by creating bogeymen of gays and of Mexicans in our country who are here because businesses, illegally, will pay them a pittance for their reliable, honest work without providing benefits or housing.

With H.R.1246 Doolittle is appealing to the Far Right gay bashers among us by rescinding the Don’t ask/Don’t tell policy put into effect in 1993, which has worked smoothly in the military. He is prohibiting gays from serving in the US Armed Forces, which he never served in and now as a chicken hawk is acting as a military authority.

Doolittle is attempting to arouse people’s bigotry and prejudice to hide his own corruption and change the subject from himself to undocumented workers and gays. Doolittle is once again playing to mankind’s baser nature for his self-preservation. This man has no limits to the depths he will plumb to save his hide. Doolittle is once again using the different, the helpless and the downtrodden to hide his flagrant corruption and boundless immorality.

Maxine Waters on Bush - Impeachment

I believe that Rep. Maxine Waters has made the definitive statement on George W. Bush's faux-presidency, when she said: "... I believe that the latest revelations about him and his spying on American citizens - no matter how he tries to frame it - are impeachable offenses. I believe that this president is not only spying on American citizens in the way that he's describing it, but to indicate in any shape form or fashion that he's been authorized by Congress to do it on the vote that was taken after 9-11 is plain dishonest. And further to try to imply that he's supported by the Constitution of the United States is even more dishonest." Representative Waters capsulizes this presidency: "spying, lying" and, please let me add, "dying" for our young Americans trapped in Bush's lies. If this man is not impeached for admitting to a felony, then we are not longer a society based on law.

The Mantra of the Far Right Preaches the Evils of the ACLU

The attacks on the ACLU by the far right have become so transparently inane that even the far right can no longer defend them. The neocons recruited the evangelical far right under the Reagan Administration to counter the criticism they had no foot soldiers, and hence no political clout. So they went to the leaders of the far right, promised them a voice in the Republican Party and the rest is history. Evangelicals before this recruiting always out of politics and tried to achieve grace on their own.

After they were recruited, they started spouting the mantras of Guns, Gays, and God, given to them by the neocons, not because the neocons believe in these issues, they did not, but because they were techniques of control. The neocons believed only in American Imperialism, or American World Domination. These mantras were fed to the evangelicals to make them believe they had connection with their neocon leaders

Out of this questionable union came the urging that the ACLU was evil. The ACLU, in reality, is the primary vehicle that preserves the freedoms guaranteed Americans in the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution. The neocons are really fascists, people who want our country to be controlled by a union of Big Business and government, which is what we currently have in American under Bush. The ACLU is seen by the neocons as the major threat to American freedoms so they have vilified it and directed their followers to believe it is evil when if fact it is the essence of keeping our free society free.

The attacks on the ACLU by the far right are as unsupportable as their attacks on Nancy Pelosi. People of faith do not ask for facts to support a position so they become willing foot soldiers in the battle to turn the US into a police state with a tyranny of the neocons.

Reasoning with people of faith becomes difficult because divine revelation is outside the purview of reason; their burning faith makes them willing fodder for the propaganda for the neocons.
The overwhelming failure of neocons policies are a drastic wake up call for their foot soldiers. We can only hope that these willing foot soldiers will not turn out in great numbers during the Republicans seventy-two hour get-out-the-vote drive before November 7. Hope is a broad winged bird that lifts our hopes and makes our spirits fly.

Leo Strauss, Godfather of the Neocons

Strauss in the Public View
Strauss is a controversial figure,[12] not only for his political views, but because some of his students and their followers are themselves controversial public figures. Allan Bloom, best known for his critique of higher education The Closing of the American Mind, was very close to Strauss (their relationship is lampooned in Saul Bellow's quasi-biographical novel Ravelstein, where the minor character Davarr represents Strauss and the central character Ravelstein represents Bloom). Harry V. Jaffa, another student of Strauss, served as a speechwriter for 1964 Republican presidential candidate Barry Goldwater and is a proponent of Declarationism constitutional theory. Paul Wolfowitz, Deputy Secretary of Defense during the United States invasion of Iraq and later President of the World Bank, was briefly a student of Strauss; Wolfowitz attended two courses which Strauss taught on Plato and Montesquieu's Spirit of the Laws. James Mann claims that Wolfowitz chose the University of Chicago because Strauss taught there and believed him to be "a unique figure, an irreplaceable asset," recommended to him by teacher Allan Bloom who taught at Cornell when Wolfowitz was an undergraduate there. Wolfowitz himself has claimed to be more of a student of Albert Wohlstetter. The Pentagon's Office of Special Plans, which worked under Wolfowitz to gather intelligence for the Iraq War, was headed by Abram Shulsky, another of Strauss's students.[8] Harvey C. Mansfield, though never a student of Strauss, is a noted Straussian (as followers of Strauss frequently identify themselves) and prominent neoconservative whose notable students include Andrew Sullivan, Elliott Abrams, Alan Keyes, Richard Perle, Bill Kristol, and Irving Kristol.
Critics of Strauss also accuse him of elitism and anti-democratic sentiment. Shadia Drury, author of 1999's Leo Strauss and the American Right, argues that Strauss taught different things to different students, and inculcated an elitist strain in American political leaders that is linked to imperialist militarism and Christian fundamentalism. Drury accuses Strauss of teaching that "perpetual deception of the citizens by those in power is critical because they need to be led, and they need strong rulers to tell them what's good for them." Drury adds, "The Weimar Republic was his model of liberal democracy... liberalism in Weimar, in Strauss's view, led ultimately to the Nazi Holocaust against the Jews." However, Strauss was hardly alone in arguing that liberalism had produced authoritarianism. Many German émigré, most notably among them Hannah Arendt, Theodore Adorno, and Max Horkheimer, made similar claims.
On the other hand, Strauss is also criticized by some on the right, especially by paleoconservatives. For example, Paul Gottfried often writes about his views on why Strauss' ideology is allegedly not really conservative or right-wing at all.[13] He writes, "The Democrats are less inclined than the Republicans to push the war policies favored by the Straussians. Although this reluctance may be due to their preoccupation with social questions at home, the Democrats are less open than the Bushites to Straussian imperial projects at the present time, if not necessarily for the future. Moreover, the establishment Right and its Republican organizational structure have become scavengers, living off yesterday’s leftist rhetoric. What Ryn calls the 'new Jacobinism' of the neoconservative- and Straussian-controlled pseudo-Right is no longer 'new.' It is the warmed-over rhetoric of Saint-Juste and Trotsky that the philosophically impoverished American Right has taken over with mindless alacrity. Republican operators and think tanks apparently believe they can carry the electorate by appealing to yesterday’s leftist clichés."[14] The late Samuel Francis agreed, charging Straussian ideology with influencing a powerful neoconservative cabal that "provides for the left—to serve as a political formula for preserving the New Deal-Great Society regime, even as the real conservatism began to rip it apart intellectually and to win political battles against it with Richard Nixon, George Wallace, and Ronald Reagan."[15]
In 2004 Adam Curtis produced a three-part documentary for the BBC on the threat from organised terrorism called the Power of Nightmares. This television documentary claimed that Strauss' teachings, among others, influenced neo-conservative and thus, United States foreign policy, especially following the September 11, 2001 attacks. Two students of Strauss, Wolfowitz and William Kristol, are cited, and Kristol discusses Strauss's influence in the film. Since they were students of Strauss, the documentary claims that their later political views and actions are a result of Strauss' philosophy and teaching. The central theme of the documentary is that the neoconservatives created myths to make the Soviet Union and terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda (Arabic: القاعدة‎) appear to be better organized and coordinated, as well as more threatening than they actually were, and that such "nightmares" enabled the neoconservatives to gain disproportionate power in the Reagan and George W. Bush administrations.
Others, such as Steven Smith,[16] question the link between Strauss and neoconservative thought, arguing that Strauss was never personally active in politics, never endorsed imperialism, and questioned the utility of political philosophy for the practice of politics.[17] Those who do make such a link, Smith argues, misread Strauss's published writings.
[edit] Quotations

On Torture and Presidential Power

Walter Dellinger, Solicitor General in the Clinton Administration, said of powers of the president, “The way to think about the question of what unilateral authority you think the president ought to have to disregard acts of congress you ought to think about, but just say, now who is the worst person who I can imagine that might actually be elected president and, who is the worst person, and what authority would I want that person, he or she, to have.

That Worst Person is currently serving in the White House.
Sandra Day O’Connor in the ruling opinion wrote, “A state of war is not a blank check for the president

Bush the Godfather

Bush’s main crime is his destruction of the rule of law. The lie is his administration policy: WMD’s, national security, war spending in Iraq, signing statements, firing of USA’s et. al. Bush’s attack on our common law is an impeachable offense, but the Democrats will not impeach him because Nancy Pelosi would become President if Bush and Cheney were impeached, and she is not yet ready to handle the feeding frenzy the Republicans would direct at her.

Bush is thereby allowed to continue his frontal assault on our way of life, our honor and our financial future. He has soared the National Debt to seven trillion dollars, he has spend over 500 billion dollars on a war that has rocked the foundations of America and Iraq, creating a terrorists’ safe haven so he can swagger and say he is protecting us from terrorists when everyone knows he is the creator of world terrorism.

The greatest military power in history under his leadership cannot defeat a band of guerillas. His endless war has enriched Halliburton and Cheney and has given the Jewish neocons a reason for their aggression against the Islamic world, turning America into a mafia state under godfather Bush.

Bush's Attack on the Rule of Law

Bush’s attack on our moral system is most pointedly an attack on our common law. When morality and truthfulness disappear as they have under Bush, people turn to law for protection and that is where they come into direct conflict with Bush. When law falters in the absence of morality, culture and society waver on the brink of chaos. Sir Thomas More, in conflict with another tyrant, Henry VIII, said, “God made the angels to show Him splendor – as He made animals for innocence and plants for their simplicity. But man He made to serve Him wittily, in the tangle of his mind.” A society based on immorality and deception is a society headed toward Armageddon. People must look inward to find courage, act on it and re-establish the basic framework of society. People must find what is right by searching their own minds. When people’s minds tell them that authority (Bush) is wrong, they must then rely on what they know to be true in their own minds to live morally. People must take the responsibility for their own truth and act courageously. People must return morality and law to our nation by living by what we know is right, by rejecting the tyrant and his doctrine of corruption.

Bush's Christain Blood Cult - Concerns Raised by the Vatican

by WAYNE MADSEN
(The following story was originally published by CounterPunch – http://www.counterpunch.org/ - on April 22, 2003.Reprinted with permission from the author)
APRIL 28, 2003, 1700 hrs PDT (FTW) -- George W. Bush proclaims himself a born-again Christian. However, Bush and fellow self-anointed neo-Christians like House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, John Ashcroft, and sports arena Book of Revelations carnival hawker Franklin Graham appear to wallow in a "Christian" blood lust cult when it comes to practicing the teachings of the founder of Christianity. This cultist form of Christianity, with its emphasis on death rather than life, is also worrying the leaders of mainstream Christian religions, particularly the Pope.
One only has to check out Bush's record as Governor of Texas to see his own preference for death over life. During his tenure as Governor, Bush presided over a record setting 152 executions, including the 1998 execution of fellow born-again Christian Karla Faye Tucker, a convicted murderer who later led a prison ministry. Forty of Bush's executions were carried out in 2000, the year the Bush presidential campaign was spotlighting their candidate's strong law enforcement record. The Washington Post's Richard Cohen reported in October 2000 that one of the execution chamber's "tie-down team" members, Fred Allen, had to prepare so many people for lethal injections during 2000, he quit his job in disgust.
Bush mocked Tucker's appeal for clemency. In an interview with Talk magazine, Bush imitated Tucker's appeal for him to spare her life - pursing his lips, squinting his eyes, and in a squeaky voice saying, "Please don't kill me." That went too far for former GOP presidential candidate Gary Bauer, himself an evangelical Christian. "I think it is nothing short of unbelievable that the governor of a major state running for president thought it was acceptable to mock a woman he decided to put to death," said Bauer.
A former Texas Department of Public Safety officer, a devout Roman Catholic, told this reporter that evidence to the contrary, Bush was more than happy to ignore DNA data and documented cases of prosecutorial misconduct to send innocent people to the Huntsville, Texas lethal injection chamber. He said the number of executed mentally retarded, African Americans, and those who committed capital crimes as minors was proof that Bush was insensitive and a "phony Christian." When faced with similar problems in Illinois, Governor George Ryan, a Republican, commuted the death sentences of his state's death row inmates and released others after discovering they were wrongfully convicted. Yet the Republican Party is pillorying Ryan and John Ashcroft's Justice Department continues to investigate the former Governor for political malfeasance as if Bush and Ashcroft are without sin in such matters. Hypocrisy certainly rules in the Republican Party.
Bush's blood lust has been extended across the globe. He has given the CIA authority to assassinate those deemed a threat to U.S. national interests. Bush has virtually suspended Executive Orders 11905 (Gerald Ford), 12306 (Jimmy Carter), and 12333 (Ronald Reagan) which prohibit the assassination of foreign leaders. Bush's determination to kill Saddam Hussein, his family, and his top leaders with precision-guided missiles and tactical nuclear weapon-like Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) bombs is yet another indication of Bush's disregard for his Republican and Democratic predecessors. It now appears that in his zeal to kill Hussein, innocent civilian patrons of a Baghdad restaurant were killed by one of Bush's precision Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAMs). Like it or not, Saddam Hussein was recognized by over 100 nations as the leader of Iraq -- a member state of the United Nations. Hussein, like North Korea' Kim Jong Il, Syria's Bashir Assad, and Iran's Mohammed Khatami, are covered by Executive Order 12333, which the Bush mouthpieces claim is still in effect. Bush's "Christian" blood cult sees no other option than death for those who become his enemies. This doctrine is found no place in Christian theology.
Bush has not once prayed for the innocent civilians who died as a result of the U.S. attack on Iraq. He constantly "embeds" himself with the military at Goebbels-like speech fests and makes constant references to God when he refers to America's "victory" in Iraq, as if God endorses his sordid killing spree. He makes no mention of the children, women, and old men killed by America's "precision-guided" missiles and bombs and trigger-happy U.S. troops. In fact, Bush revels in indiscriminate blood letting. Since he never experienced such killing in Southeast Asia, when he was AWOL from his Texas Air National Guard unit, Bush just does not seem to understand the horror of a parent watching one's children having their heads and limbs blown off in a sudden blast of shrapnel or children witnessing their parents burning to death with their own body fat nurturing the flames.
Bush and his advisers, previously warned that Iraq's ancient artifacts and collection of historical documents and books were in danger of being looted or destroyed, instead, sat back while the Baghdad and Mosul museums and Baghdad Library were ransacked and destroyed. Cult leaders have historically attempted to destroy history in order to invent their own. The Soviets tried to obliterate Russia's Orthodox traditions, turning a number of churches into warehouses and animal barns. Cambodia's Pol Pot tried to wipe out Buddhism's famed Angkor Wat shrine in an attempt to stamp out his country's Buddhist history. In March 2001, while they were negotiating with the Bush administration on a natural gas pipeline, Afghanistan's Taliban blew up two massive 1600-year old Buddhas in Bamiyan. The Bush administration, itself run by fanatic religious cultists, barely made a fuss about the loss of the relics. It would not be the first time the cultists within the Bush administration ignored the pillaging of history's treasures.
The ransacking of Iraq's historical treasures is explainable when one considers what the blood cult Christians really think about Islam. Franklin Graham, the heir to the empire built up by his anti-Semitic father, Billy Graham, has decided being anti-Muslim is far more financially rewarding than being anti-Jewish. Billy Graham, history notes from the Nixon tapes, complained about the Jewish stranglehold on the media and Jews being responsible for pornography.
Franklin Graham continues to enjoy his father's unfettered and questionable access to the White House. But in the case of Bush, the younger Graham has a fanatic adherent. Graham has called Islam a "very evil and wicked" religion. He then announces he wants to go to Iraq. Graham obviously sees an opportunity to convert Muslims and unrepentant Eastern Christians, who owe their allegiance to Roman and Greek prelates, to his perverted form of blood cult Christianity. Graham says he is ready to send his Samaritan's Purse missionaries into Iraq to provide assistance. Muslims and mainstream Christians are wary that Graham wants to exchange food, water, and medicine for the baptism of Iraqis into his intolerant brand of Christianity. In the last Gulf War, Graham could not get away with his chicanery. The Desert Storm Commander, General Norman Schwarzkopf, stopped dead in the tracks Graham's plan to send 30,000 Arabic language Bibles to U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia. Today's Pentagon shows no such compunction to put a rein on Graham. It invited him to give a Good Friday sermon at the Pentagon to the consternation of the Defense Department's Muslim employees. To make matters worse, under Bush's "Faith Based Initiative," Graham's Samaritan's Purse stands to receive U.S. government funds for its proselytizing efforts in Iraq, something that should be an affront to every American taxpayer.
Bush's self-proclaimed adherence to Christianity (during one of the presidential debates he said Jesus Christ was his favorite "philosopher") and his constant reference to a new international structure bypassing the United Nations system and long-standing international treaties are worrying the top leadership of the Roman Catholic Church. Well-informed sources close to the Vatican report that Pope John Paul II is growing increasingly concerned about Bush's ultimate intentions. The Pope has had experience with Bush's death fetish. Bush ignored the Pope's plea to spare the life of Karla Faye Tucker. To show that he was similarly ignorant of the world's mainstream religions, Bush also rejected an appeal to spare Tucker from the World Council of Churches - an organization that represents over 350 of the world's Protestant and Orthodox Churches. It did not matter that Bush's own Methodist Church and his parents' Episcopal Church are members of the World Council.
Bush's blood lust, his repeated commitment to Christian beliefs, and his constant references to "evil doers," in the eyes of many devout Catholic leaders, bear all the hallmarks of the one warned about in the Book of Revelations - the anti-Christ. People close to the Pope claim that amid these concerns, the Pontiff wishes he was younger and in better health to confront the possibility that Bush may represent the person prophesized in Revelations. John Paul II has always believed the world was on the precipice of the final confrontation between Good and Evil as foretold in the New Testament. Before he became Pope, Karol Cardinal Wojtyla said, "We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has gone through. I do not think that wide circles of the American society or wide circles of the Christian community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-Church, of the Gospel versus the anti-Gospel." The Pope, who grew up facing the evils of Hitler and Stalin, knows evil when he sees it. Although we can all endlessly argue over the Pope's effectiveness in curtailing abuses within his Church, his accomplishments external to Catholicism are impressive.
According to journalists close to the Vatican, the Pope and his closest advisers are also concerned that the ultimate acts of evil - the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon - were known in advance by senior Bush administration officials. By permitting the attacks to take their course, there is a perception within the Roman Catholic Church hierarchy that a coup d'etat was implemented, one that gave Bush and his leadership near-dictatorial powers to carry out their agenda.
The Pope worked tirelessly to convince leaders of nations on the UN Security Council to oppose Bush's war resolution on Iraq. Vatican sources claim they had not seen the Pope more animated and determined since he fell ill to Parkinson's Disease. In the end, the Pope did convince the leaders of Mexico, Chile, Cameroon, and Guinea to oppose the U.S. resolution. If one were to believe in the Book of Revelations, as the Pope fervently does, he can seek solace in scoring a symbolic victory against the Bush administration. Whether Bush represents a dangerous right-wing ideologue who couples his political fanaticism with a neo-Christian blood cult (as I believe) or he is either the anti-Christ or heralds one, the Pope should know he has fought the good battle and has gained the respect and admiration of many non-Catholics around the world.

The New Doolittle is the Old Doolittle

The New Doolittle believes global warming is a myth, Brent Wilkes, a moral person, the Auburn Dam, the panacea for developers, and Bush, the Decider. He thinks people of the Fourth Congressional District are bovinely contented being turned into Orange County North, his friendships with convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff (sex, abortion and human trafficking in the Northern Marianas) and disgraced Congressman Bob Ney, his ties to Duke Cunningham, Tom DeLay, robot calls against Charlie Brown, his wife’s 15% pay of all his contributions, will all go unnoticed by voters in 2008. If he continues to lie to his trusting fellow Mormons, provides a half dozen hour-long listening penances, pursues the Neocon (NeoNazi) agenda of creating enough paranoia in his constituents, they will not only return him to Congress but also another Republican madman to the White House.

He and his Republican Party have engendered such an anti-government attitude while controlling government, turning so many people off politics, only fanatics will vote. If voters in the Fourth Congressional District repeat their unenviable history, he is, as the Republicans say, spot on. How is the New different from the Old Doolittle? Is Doolittle … or you or me … responsible for Doolittle?

Corruption and Fraud Running Unchecked in Iraq

The Bush Administration’s lack of oversight in Iraq has led to billions of dollars in losses, corruption of Iraqi and American officials and massive wastes of taxpayer moneys on shoddy construction and fraud. Stuart Bowen, Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, says corruption and fraud are rife throughout Iraq, with Iraqis stealing oil which must be transported by trucks because insurgents continually destroy pipelines.

Robert Stein, Controller of the South Central region of Iraq, is one of the few Americans convicted of corruption and sentenced to nine years, and his partner Phillip Bloom is currently being charged. No one has even been charged in the colossal incompetence in the building of the Iraqi Police Academy. The Academy is in such bad shape the Iraqis refuse to accept it. The only reason Stuart Bowen is still on the job as the only oversight person in Iraq is that Republican congress was blocked from eliminating his job.

Halliburton, Kellogg, Brown and Root, Bechtel (withdrawn) have all been implicated in corruption, but no charges have been brought by the Bush Administration, which acts as a shield to corporate corruption in Iraq and a conduit of taxpayer money to corrupt, incompetent, corporate America.

Bush's Global Warming Coverup Uncovered

The cover for the Bush Mafia is finally falling off. Bush’s attempt to cover up his own EPA’s findings on Global Warming (GW) is revealed in Congressman Henry Waxman’s oversight of Bush pressuring his scientists to distort their findings. Bush edited the phrase “GW” out of reports to Congress. He refused to hand over subpoenaed documents from the EPA to Congressman Waxman, documents which show Bush’s “attempt to mislead the public by injecting doubt into the science of global warming and minimizing the potential dangers.”

White House policy on global warming was run by oil lobbyist Philip Cooney, who unilaterally deleted all mentions of global warming. Cooney came from the American Petroleum Institute, the largest oil lobby in the US; he headed the Council on Environmental Quality in the White House. He left the White House to work for Exxon Mobil. He perverted EPA finding on GW to fit Bush’s oilman contentions.

Bush and Congressman John T. Doolittle use science fiction writer Michael Crichton as their scientific authority to ignore GW. Over eight hundred of the world foremost climatologists have signed a document indicating GW is the world’s foremost problem. Bush continues to put the planet at risk.

Columnist Peter Schrag is a California Treasure

Peter Schrag is a California treasure, an egalitarian, knowing what is good for all Californians. As he wrote about SB 752 “as soon as someone in the Capitol proposes something hopeful … the party of fear rises up” to block “the state (from providing) the beginning of a savings account to every California newborn,” mainly because the party of fear does not want to include the children (American-born) of illegal aliens. “How dumb. Those kids, a minority of newborns, are going to be here regardless. In an environment in which the Legislature generates lots of screwball ideas … Senate Bill 752 would be a real innovation.” Imprisoning a person costs $41,574 each year. $500 at birth as seed money for a productive life seems quite reasonable.

Schrag continues, “When hope raises its timid head, punishment beats it down. When the highest priorities of a major political party are punishing the minority of Americans who happen to be kids of illegal immigrants and throwing more people in jail, hope goes to the back of the bus.” Is the plantation mentality so strong in the Party of Fear it still puts many Californians in back of the bus? Kudos, Mr. Peter Schrag!

If The Fear Created by the Party of Fear is All We Have to Fear, Then We Have Nothing to Fear

When the Evil Empire fell from within after the US spent trillions protecting us from it, Republicans replaced it with another Bogey Man, Bill Clinton. When Clinton proved not to be the Bogey Man, the neocons, using 9/11, created Al-Quaida with Osama as their next Bogey Man, so they could protect the frightened masses, continuing their politics of fear with a lie repeated so often they themselves believed it.

The name Al-Quaida was created in a Manhattan courtroom by neocons so they could use the RICO act to prosecute suspected terrorists. Osama is not nor ever has been leader of a nonexistent terrorist network called Al-Quaida, obsessed with destroying America. He’s a wealthy Saudi who finances individual terrorist groups. He is not a charismatic leader, dreaming of destroying the US.

Bush, the neocons’ puppet, swaggers, but never catches Osama because he is the evil necessary for Bush and the neocons to spread their fear and maintain power.

Shockingly, no Al-Quaida is waiting to destroy the western world. Without Al-Quaida people would see the fantasy created by Bush and his fear mongers. The BBC’s Power of Nightmares film reveals this sham. Bet you cannot get a copy of it though.

The party of fear needs a Bogey Man to protect us from because their policies are so self-serving, so counterproductive to the Middle Class and anyone but the top one percent in income, no one not driven to extremes by the fear they create would ever willing vote for any of them.

However, the Party of Fear has so bungled its fear making machinery that most people no longer give it any credibility and see through its clumsy attempts at scaring the people. The Party of Fear has become the party of shame. The Jewish cabal known as the neocons has been disgraced and is in disarray.

To paraphrase a very great American, "The only thing we have to fear is the fear manufactured by the party of fear." The Party of Fear is crumbling from withing from believing its own myth of fear.
